Sadly, the union has recently had several members diagnosed with long-term illnesses, which has highlighted that the current income protection facilities superannuation policies cover are inadequate and place our members and other employees under financial stress, which is further impacting their health.
The Union wants to address this issue by having an income protection clause inserted into all future agreements with the PTA. This would be a win-win for employees and the employer.
Establishing an income protection clause in all future agreements will lead to a more stable and confident workforce that provides all employees with a peace of mind whenever they face the possibility of a long-term illness or injury.
It is hoped that the first agreement to establish an income protection clause will be the Transit Officers Agreement, due for renewal in 2016.
